Basics Of Splitting
Splitting
Here you’ll learn how to split and combine words in the tool. For the rules on which splits are accepted or incorrect, read the Splitting Guidelines.
To start, inside the tool, choose the word you want to split.
After you do that right click the word and choose Split word…
Here you may see your word already split automatically (With vertical lines), usually it should be fine already like this but check the audio for:
Vocals lingering on a syllable or phoneme for longer or shorter relative to other syllables/phonemes.
Pauses in between syllables or phonemes.
If the split’s not already fine, then change it up by clicking in between the letters to place or remove splits.
Now you have your final result, your correctly split word.
If you want to automate all splits and adjust them afterward, you can go to Tools → Segmentation Tools → Auto Segment.
You’ll see a dialog open telling you to choose a syllabification engine based on the language you’re syncing.
The tool will automatically detect the language (You may have to set it yourself if it doesn’t detect correctly).
Click Apply to all lines.
Now you have all your words split.
You now should playback audio and check splits. If they are not correct then you should select the 2 or more splits (By doing CTRL + Left-Click) and Right-Click and choosing Combine words.
You can also skip the dialog by hold Shift while pressing Left-Click.
