2. Import the lyrics
Import lyrics before you begin timing them. Every source can contain mistakes, so compare the imported text with the exact recording in the next step.
Source | When to use |
|---|---|
Genius (recommended) | Usually the strongest starting point for complete, well-transcribed lyrics. Requires a free Client Access Token. |
LRCLIB | Convenient when Genius is unavailable, but community submissions vary in accuracy and formatting. |
Plain text | Use lyrics copied from another source or a transcription you prepared yourself. |
Lyrically | An additional source that may not contain every song. |

Create a Genius Client Access Token
Sign in at Genius API Clients.
Select New API Client.
Enter a recognizable app name. For the website URL, you may use
https://tool.community.spicylyrics.org/.Save the client and select Generate Access Token.
Copy the Client Access Token, not the Client ID or Client Secret.
Paste it into the TTML Tool and select Save & Continue.
The token stays in your local tool storage and is also used by Fetch Songwriters from Genius. Treat it as private and do not post it in Discord or include it in a TTML file.
Continue to 3. Check the lyrics even when the source is Genius or artist-verified. The recording—not the website—is authoritative.
