Welcome, TTML Self-Uploader

Welcome—you now have the TTML Self-Uploader role. You may upload your own TTML files without waiting for Reviewer approval.

Direct upload access is a trust role, not a different quality standard. The same Uploading and TTML Rules still apply to every file.

What changed

You may now upload your own work without creating a #ttml-uploads post or waiting for a Reviewer.

The role does not authorize you to approve or upload another maker’s work. That requires TTML Reviewer or higher.

Upload command

Use:

/upload-ttml ttmlfile:<attach the .ttml file>

For a large batch, you may also attach the optional ids-file:

/upload-ttml ttmlfile:<attach the .ttml file> ids-file:<attach a text file>
  • ttmlfile is required and contains the TTML to upload.

  • ids-file is optional. It is a text file containing IDs separated by new lines or commas and is intended for large batches.

Check the attachments before sending the command. The optional IDs file does not replace the required TTML file.

Before every direct upload

  1. Open the exact target song in Spicy Lyrics and inspect any existing synchronization.

  2. Check relevant alternate releases. A Self-Uploader’s work may not appear in #ttml-uploads, so the live catalog is the essential duplicate check.

  3. Confirm that a replacement makes a material improvement if good lyrics already exist.

  4. Test the finished TTML against the exact streamed version.

  5. Check lyric accuracy, timing, vocal roles, Romanization when present, songwriter metadata, compatibility, and variant matching.

  6. Use a separate TTML for versions with different audio, lyrics, censorship, offsets, intros, edits, or timing.

Do not replace an accurate, well-timed Apple or community synchronization merely for visibility, views, or maker credit.

Upload and verify

You can run /upload-ttml in almost any channel where the Spicy Lyrics bot is available.

  1. Run /upload-ttml and attach the required ttmlfile. For a large batch, also attach the optional ids-file containing the correct target IDs.

  2. Check that the TTML is associated with the intended Spotify ID or IDs, then send the command.

  3. Wait for the command to report its result.

  4. Clear the Spicy Lyrics cache.

  5. Open the streamed song in Spicy Lyrics.

  6. Confirm that the uploaded file parses, every line appears, and the timing, vocal roles, layout, and metadata behave correctly.

An accepted command is not proof that the result renders correctly. If anything is wrong, correct it promptly. Ask a Reviewer or moderator for help if you cannot safely repair or replace the upload yourself.

When to request another review

You can still ask an experienced maker or Reviewer to check difficult work, especially:

  • lyrics in a language you do not understand;

  • complex background or duet vocals;

  • several similar song variants;

  • unusual Romanization;

  • an existing upload whose ownership or replacement is disputed.

Direct upload access should make routine work faster, not remove collaboration when it would prevent a mistake.

Responsibility and role access

Complaints do not automatically mean an upload is bad; staff inspect the actual result and written rules. Repeated or serious problems may lead to case-by-case removal of Self-Uploader access. The normal way back is consistently good reviewed work or the Self-Uploader application process.

Quick first step

Before your first direct upload, reread the rules. You can run the upload command in almost any channel where the Spicy Lyrics bot is available.
